The senior design program in Mechanical Engineering offers international humanitarian projects as a capstone option for students interested in international work. These projects typically focus on water, sanitation, healthcare and agriculture – examples are provided under the Beyond Malawi link. Engineering students are able to use their design skills to implement solutions which balance technical, cultural, and economic needs in the developing world – a challenging task where sustainable technology is the leading goal for successful implementation.
The designs shown on these pages are provided without restriction to improve quality of life and grow capacity in the developing world. Please feel free to download these designs and implement their solutions, and let us know what communities are benefiting from VT innovations.
